Brits in Germany cutting loose
MORE Brits living in Germany are applying for citizenship as the UK gets ready to leave the EU.
Naturalisation applications recorded in municipalities show a rising trend.
In Stuttgart 29 Britons have applied for naturalisation this year – almost 10 times as many as last year.
In Cologne applications have tripled – from 10 in 2015 to 34 this year. Alison Fry, 49, has lived in Germany for 27 years.
She is married to a German and her two daughters have that passport.
She said: “I have now applied German citizenship.
“It would be strange to face another line at the airport because I am the only non-EU citizen in our family. “ for
