Although we’re still only in October, signs of Christmas are appearing in the shops and on TV.

My mother worked in department stores and there was never any mention of Christmas until a week before. Now it’s a money-making event which reduces the enjoyment come the day.

Fern Hodges was being a little naive in her letter complaining that the Liverpool v Fulham game is at midday on Armistice Day (Your Voice, Oct 25).

I hate to say it but Remembrance Day won’t have crossed the minds of most of the fans.
