Rose falls Just short

-

JUSTIN ROSE came up short in his bid to win back his world No.1 ranking.

The Brit, who needed to win the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai to regain top spot, had to be content with third place, behind America’s Xander Schauffele who beat compatriot Tony Finau in a play-off.

Rose’s 72, after bogeys on the closing stretch, saw him finish on 10 under par, four off the lead.

“A tough day for everybody,” said defending champion Rose, who will also bid to retain his Turkish Airlines Open title this week. “Seems like everyone fell apart.”
