BEN POINTS FINGER AT REVIVAL

- Barkhuizen 40 Smith 55 BY NEIL GOULDING

PRESTON ROTHERHAM 1 1 DEFENDER Ben Davies believes Preston have turned a corner despite letting fellow strugglers Rotherham off the hook.

On-song striker Tom Barkhuizen notched his third goal in as many games with a clinical header from Callum Robinson’s corner.

But the battling Millers hit back when Michael Smith smashed his shot into the roof of the net.

North End are unbeaten in five games after winning just once in their opening 10. Davies said: “We had to have a look at ourselves on and off the pitch.

“But we pulled our finger out and we are looking to build on this run now.

“The lads are obviously disappointed in the dressing room with this result, but we will take the positives,

“We need to stick together and keep working hard, but we feel like we have turned a corner.” That view was echoed by Preston skipper Tom Clarke, who returned from injury.

He said: “We’ve been scoring a lot of goals, we’re looking forward and creating a lot.

“I’m just glad that I could be out there to try to contribute.

“The runs goes on which is important to keep the confidence going.”

Rotherham centre-half Clark Robertson stressed they must improve their results on the road, having yet to win away this season in the league. He said: “We do need that first away win. But we have to keep building.

“We have got enough quality, enough belief and character to have a decent enough season.”
