AFTER THE LIKELY LADS, THE TWO RONNIES

-

CRISTIANO RONALDO admits that Juventus were worn out by Manchester United.

Juve won 1-0 at Old Trafford in the Champions League in midweek but found the going tough against struggling Empoli as they trailed 1-0 to a Francesco Caputo goal at the break. However, Ronaldo (right) netted a second-half penalty before bagging the winner for his seventh goal of the season.

The Portugal superstar said: “It was a tough game. We knew it would be complicated, even the coach anticipated it, but we gave a good response. In the second half we pushed more, created opportunities, and deserved the victory.

“I don’t remember my goal very well, I’ll have to watch it again because it happened very quickly.

“This was an important week, the team was tired after the Manchester United game and we did well in very difficult circumstances.”

Juve remain unbeaten this season, winning nine and drawing one of their 10 games.

Boss Max Allegri added: “We have to tip our hats to Empoli for being so well-organised and impressive. It was a game that had to be won.”
