TROAD TO SUCCESS Ella, right, & Ratcliffe HEY come from all different walks of life, from every part of the country, and they range from incredible children to remarkable pensioners.

But the winners of the 2018 Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards, in partnership with TSB, share a spirit that embodies all that is best about our nation.

They include young people facing daunting adversity, such as Ella Chadwick, 11, the winner of the Child of Courage Award.

Ella, of Rochdale,

Gtr Manchester, was born with a rare kidney disease meaning six years of dialysis and two transplants.

She also has diabetes. But despite being dependent on a walking frame and wheelchair, she has raised thousands for charity – and she is even taking part in the Mini Great Manchester Run with marathon legend Paula Radcliffe. Jessica Ruth, events manager at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital charity, says: “Everyone who meets Ella is blown away by her positivity.” Our winners also include inspirational campaigners, emergency services staff who went beyond the call of duty and people who displayed awe-inspiring courage to save others.

Tonight we celebrate their achievements at London’s Grosvenor House hotel along with more than 100 of our best-loved celebrities, including music superstars, TV favourites, sporting legends and top politicians.

Prince Charles and Prime Minister Theresa May are also helping to honour our unsung heroes once again.

The Pride of Britain Awards, hosted by Carol Vorderman, will be screened on Tuesday, November 6 on ITV. Winners were selected from tens of thousands of nominations sent in by Daily Mirror readers and ITV viewers.

A team of researchers sifted through thousands of stories and contacted hundreds of charities and the emergency services to add to the shortlist. Winners were then chosen by a panel of distinguished judges.

Now it is time to meet the Pride of Britain 2018.
