Billionaire began empire from one shop in Bangkok
OWNER Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha had a rags to riches tale to match Leicester’s stunning Premier League title win in 2016.
Born in Thailand in 1958 he started King Power in 1989 with a duty-free shop in downtown Bangkok and grew it to become the country’s leading duty-free chain.
Worth £3.8billion, the dad-of-four was Thailand’s fifth richest person and had his own polo team.
After buying Leicester in 2010 for £39million he pumped millions into the squad and stadium. He was famous for his generosity, laying on free food for fans and donating £3million for a children’s hospital.
