Academic is sacked over ‘racism’ row
TRIBUNAL Dr Carpos-Young A PROFESSOR was sacked after emailing 800 students lecture notes calling violinists “gypos”, an employment tribunal heard.
Dr Francesca CarposYoung, 59, was accused of a “serious error of professional judgement” for not clarifying that her notes referred to her PhD research on discrimination in the musical world.
She claims the Royal Academy of Music made her a scapegoat after students boycotted her lectures last November.
But deputy principal Neil Heyde told the Central London hearing: “When I looked at the notes, [they] were presented with appalling lack of context.
“You cannot just throw a bomb into a room and see what happens.”
The tribunal continues.
