‘Largest’ tremor halts fracking
FRACKING has been stopped for a third time at a shale gas site after its largest earth tremor was recorded.
Energy firm Caudrilla said it would halt gas exploration for 18 hours after the 1.1 magnitude quake was detected at the site in Little Plumpton, Lancs. Two smaller ones of 0.8 were recorded over the weekend.
The firm said the tremor was a long way from causing “damage or harm”. Green MEP Keith Taylor said it showed the “hugely negative impact” of fracking.
