Cascade to remember
MORE than 15,000 red poppies cascade down Hertford Castle to mark 100 years since the end of the First World War.
They were knitted and crocheted using 170 miles of wool by The Secret Society of Hertford Crafters, as well as schoolchildren, people in care homes and other volunteers. The oldest was Ivy Buck, 100, and Bodhi Gover, six, was the youngest.
Their efforts have been used to create the installation ahead of Remembrance Sunday. There is also a wreath made up of 352 poppies – one for each of the city’s servicemen who died in the conflict.
