Aussies so rank from top down
AUSTRALIAN cricket is reeling after a review into its culture delivered a damning verdict on its ‘bullying’, ‘arrogant’ and ‘controlling’ governing body.
Cricket Australia have been blamed for contributing to the culture that led to the seismic balltampering saga in South Africa.
The players slam the board for treating them like ‘commodities’ and for failing to respect anyone but their own, which is why there have been calls for the 12-month bans for David Warner, Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft to be reduced.
This comes hot on the heels of the sight of Warner leaving the field mid-innings in a club game over sledging aimed at him. With an Ashes series looming England skipper Joe Root said: “You don’t see that very often. We will have to see what happens next summer if he comes.”
