Overseas trade envoys staying at home
THREE of the PM’s overseas trade envoys have not been visiting their assigned regions with Brexit five months away.
Tory MP Mark Prisk, envoy to the Nordic and Baltic regions and Brazil, hasn’t visited any of those areas in the past year.
Tory Sir Henry Bellingham MP was assigned to Libya in June but has yet to go there, while Kenya envoy Pauline Latham MP hasn’t visited since getting the job in August but says she will go next month.
Trade envoys covering up to 50 countries made 61 visits to 41 markets in the past year.
