Seals in sea rubbish injury hell
SEALS are suffering more injuries from rubbish dumped in the sea off Britain than ever, experts have warned.
At least 10 are currently tangled up in plastic paraphernalia. Others have been rescued with rings around their necks and entwined in rope and nylon netting. Many more have died. Alison Charles, manager of the RSPCA’s East Winch Wildlife Centre, in Norfolk, said: “There are seals dying every day from man-made items left in the water or on beaches.
“These poor animals are getting stuck and suffer horrendous slow deaths.” Before 2008 there were no reports of such cases off the UK.
