Hunt’s boss ambassador plan blasted
A UNION yesterday criticised plans for business leaders to become British ambassadors overseas.
Jeremy Hunt wants to scrap the rule that only civil servants get the plum roles, so industry chiefs can drum up trade deals.
The Foreign Secretary outlined the plan last night in a speech to the Policy Exchange think tank.
But Dave Penman, head of the FDA union of which represents top civil servants, called it “worrying”.
He said: “To solely focus on trade risks undermining the UK’s interests given the complexities of international relations.”
