BABIES fathered by older dads are more likely to suffer health problems from birth, warns new research.

Children with fathers aged 45 or more had a 14% higher chance of needing neonatal intensive care than those whose dads were aged 25 to 34.

They were also 18% more at risk of seizures.

If the father was 55 or older, newborns tended to score worse on Apgar health tests, the study by Stanford University in California discovered.
