Making up numbers in the 100

- BY DEAN WILSON

CRICKETERS who fail to make the cut for England’s new 100-ball competition will play in a second-string T20 tournament.

The big names, such as Ben Stokes (above), will be selected by one of the eight city-based franchises that will play the 100 format from 2020.

The new T20 event will be based around the current county sides, using only domestic players not chosen for The Hundred.

Both competitions will take place in July and August.

From 2020 the County Championship will have 10 teams in Division One and eight in Division Two, instead of the current split. Two teams will be promoted and relegated.
