JOSE MOURINHO has successfully contested a misconduct charge – but the FA are ready to launch an appeal against it.

The FA were said to be “surprised” that the case against Mourinho was not proven by an independent commission, meaning the Manchester United boss avoids a touchline ban.

Mourinho was charged with misconduct after he mouthed an obscenity in his native Portuguese into a TV camera after the 3-2 win over Newcastle at Old Trafford on October 6.
