Bombardier loses £2.5bn Tube train bid
BOMBARDIER has lost its High Court fight for a £2.5billion contract for Tube trains won by Germany’s Siemens Mobility.
The Derby-based train builder, who tendered for the contract in a joint venture with Hitachi, had claimed the tendering process was flawed.
Siemens will now make 94 trains with the option to supply another 50.
The firm said it would make a £200million factory in Goole, East Yorks, to build the trains, creating at least 700 skilled jobs and up to 1,700 indirect jobs throughout the UK.
