Four rumbled over fake hol compo claim

- BY JOE THOMAS

FRAUDSTER Janet Weir FOUR fraudsters ended up in court for falsely claiming food poisoning ruined their holiday in Benidorm.

Michael Jameson, 43, Jane Weir, 38, Claire Weir, 35, and Janet Weir, 63, faked a compensation claim that could have cost tour operator Jet2 £45,000.

But lawyers found online comments saying the 2015 stay at Aqua Magic Rock Gardens was the “best holiday ever” and praising the “lovely hotel and food”.

At Liverpool county court the four, of Toxteth, pleaded guilty to contempt and were each given suspended jail sentences and fines of £750.

Jet2 said later: “We have warned making false claims could lead to serious consequences and this ruling shows how serious they can be.”
