Suzy suspect tells cops: get on with dig to clear my name

SUZY Lamplugh suspect John Cannan has again denied killing the young estate agent as police continue to dig up the garden at his mother’s old house.

In a statement from jail, the rapist and murderer said he hopes the search will be over soon to “end speculation” that he is the “Mr Kipper” thought to have abducted and killed Suzy, 25, in 1986.

It is his first comment since DENIAL Murderer John Cannan forensic teams arrived at the semi in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, for a dig likely to continue over the weekend. His solicitor Matthew Claughton said yesterday: “John Cannan continues to deny involvement.” He had no idea why the search has come “out of the blue” now, the lawyer added. Cannan, jailed for life in 1989 for the rape and murder of newlywed Shirley Banks, was named as prime suspect in the Lamplugh case in 2002.
