Harry says Spurs have strong enough squad to tame Wolves

HARRY WINKS believes Spurs proved they have strength in depth after coming through two games in 48 hours.

Tottenham were the only Premier League side not to make a summer signing, leaving them open to criticism about the size and quality of their squad.

But Spurs passed a big test of their resources to reach the League Cup quarter-finals against West Ham on Wednesday two days after their Premier League defeat Manchester City.

Tottenham made 10 changes for the second game and included the likes of midfielder Winks, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-min in a refreshed team against the Hammers.

Winks said: “We’ve got strength in depth, we’ve got good players in every position to step in.

“Everyone was outstanding against West Ham and it’s good to get on to winning ways after losing to Man City. It should give us to good confidence going into the Wolves game.

“They look a great side. I saw them against Man City earlier this season and they took the game to them, so we know it will be tough.”

And Winks is looking forward to facing Wolves’ midfield maestro Joao Moutinho at Molineux.

He said: “I’ve watched him over the years for Portugal and he’s someone I’ve always looked up to – in that he’s not the biggest or strongest, but he’s technically fantastic.”
