Nicholls’ star has red-hot chance reunited with Frost at Wetherby

- BY NEWSBOY

BRYONY FROST can steal the limelight — yet again — on Black Corton in the bet365 Charlie Hall Chase (2.40, ITV4) at Wetherby.

Frost forged a formidable combination with boss Paul Nicholls’ (right) sevenyear-old last season, linking up for seven successes in novice chase company.

Frost first got the leg up on Black Corton at Worcester last July, and the pair clicked with a 13-length margin, following up at Fontwell and Newton Abbot.

The dynamic duo then landed similar events at Cheltenham in October and November before jumping their rivals into submission in the Grade 1 Kauto Star Novices’ Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.

After a dashing score in Ascot’s Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase, my selection was out of luck at Cheltenham and Aintree in the spring. But there’s no reason why Black Corton, whose fencing technique will stand him in good stead now he takes on all-comers, can’t thrive in his second campaign as a chaser .

With Frost’s assistance in the saddle, he is fancied to bag the £56,950 first prize.
