Vichai’s Foxes fairy tale will never be forgotten

-

I WAS far from over the harrowing events at BT Sport earlier in the day when I received a text message asking me if I knew Leicester chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

Yes, vaguely, I replied. Why? When I put the news on, it soon became clear.

I only met Vichai (above) once – at City’s first-ever Champions League game, a 3-0 win over Club Brugge, two years ago – and you could see he was such a proud man that night.

When people talk about Leicester’s 5,000-1 long shots pulling off the greatest miracle in the history of football, it was Vichai who gave the people a reason to dream anything was possible.

He didn’t just give everyone connected with a football club belief they could achieve the impossible – he transformed a whole city’s outlook.

Everyone in football is touched by the tragedy of the helicopter crash which claimed the life of Vichai and four others.

But his influence on the fairy tale of Leicester City will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.
