Menu board sparks bomb panic at mall
SHOPPERS yelled “bomb, bomb” and ran for their lives after a bang caused a stampede in a shopping mall yesterday.
Customers at Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent fled after hearing someone shout “run, go” at 2pm.
But the noise turned out to have been a sign falling over in the food court.
A police spokeswoman said there was “nothing to worry about”. Nobody was hurt during the incident.
People had abandoned their meals and headed to the emergency exit.
Many rushed out of the building as alarms rang, and witnesses reported children in tears.
Bluewater tweeted: “A false alarm was caused by the noise of a menu board falling over. Bluewater remains open as usual.”
