BA flyers in 2-day limbo
ORDEAL In the NY terminal BRITISH Airways passengers suffered a two-day delay as they ended up stranded at two airports.
Gatwick-bound BA2036 was grounded at Orlando on Thursday with mechanical issues. A plane on Friday then diverted to JFK Airport, New York, where the passengers had to sleep on the terminal floor.
Passenger Rosie Watts said: “Deplorable service.”
They finally got here at 6.45am yesterday, 48 hours late. BA has apologised. IT was poultry in motion when Strictly’s Shirley Ballas took a bag of roast chicken for a Saturday night dance in her dressing room’s shower.
And the nutty head judge, 58, also forgot to take off her high heels, petticoat and leopard print coat.
Egged on by a pal filming on a phone, she performed a cha-cha-cha-style dance while waving the bird around – then squawked “Chicken!” at the camera.
Such a plucky performance may make feathers fly with fellow judges. Maybe she shouldn’t have made a meal of it. Shirl’s daft chicken dance in shower Waving her grub DR Ranj Singh’s Strictly hopes have gone up in smoke – and his pro partner reckons Guy Fawkes is to blame.
Janette Manrara says the CBeebies star’s young fans were too busy watching fireworks to vote.
After losing a dance off against Charles Venn and Karen Clifton, Janette said: “It was fireworks night so a lot of the families and kids were celebrating fireworks.”
A peak of 10.3 million viewers, and an average of 9.5 million, still managed to tune in.
In the dance off, Casualty’s Charles, 45, and Karen, 36, performed a Viennese waltz to Piano Man by Billy Joel. Ranj, 39, and Janette did a samba to Freedom 90 by George Michael.
Only judge Craig Revel Horwood opted to save Dr Ranj.
Afterwards, Ranj said he had loved his time on the show, adding: “I’ve done something that I only could have dreamed of.”
Janette, 34, said: “I couldn’t have asked for a better friend, a better partner or better series.”
Stacey Dooley, 31, is now the bookies’ 13/8 favourite to win.
