MARWAN STRINGS IF HE WINS IN OZ

- TIME TO FLY THE FLAG BY NEWSBOY FROM JACK RATHBORN in Antalya, Turkey

MAGIC CIRCLE can trigger Full Monty-style scenes at Flemington with a victory in the Lexus Melbourne Cup (4.00) early tomorrow morning.

Owner Dr Marwan Koukash has pledged to receive the trophy in a g-string if his horse lands ‘the race that stops a nation’.

Now the time has come Koukash may have to keep his word.

With wins in the Chester Cup and Henry II Stakes at Sandown in May, Magic Circle has an attractive profile - with the promise of more to come.

“We’ve got a huge chance. It’s a once-in-alifetime chance. Everything has gone spot on with him,” said trainer Ian Williams. JUSTIN ROSE believes he is playing the best golf of his career after he reclaimed top spot in the world.

The Ryder Cup star successfully defended his Turkish Airlines Open title after triumphing in a play-off against Haotong Li.

Rose displaces Brooks Koepka as world No.1 after holding his nerve to make par on the 18th with Li three-putting to gift him the win.

After overcoming a three-shot deficit to the Chinese star, the 38-year-old claimed he has never been in better form.

“As a collective body of work, no doubt about it,” Rose said. “I average 68.9 on the PGA Tour. That’s way lower than I’ve ever averaged. But I think there’s still improvement.”

Li (below) frittered away his lead with a bogey on two, and only just saved par on seven, pointing to his heart and allowing himself a wry smile as the ball threatened to lip out.
