WILSON’S IN WITH ENGLAND SHOUT
CALLUM WILSON will carry on doing his talking on the pitch as he bids to gatecrash Gareth Southgate’s England plans.
The Bournemouth striker’s 50th Cherries goal put Manchester United under the cosh before Jose Mourinho’s men hit back. Wilson (left) has scored seven times this season and must be a contender to make this month’s England squad for the USA and Croatia games. But he remains reluctant to bang his own drum and said: “I don’t want to talk my way into the squad, I want to play my way in.
“It’s a case of focusing game by game and improving my game, trying to become the finished article. I’m still only 26 and I’ve missed a lot of football through injuries – but I’m catching up now.”
Boss Eddie Howe said: “I’m sure Gareth and his team will be watching every player that’s English and doing well in the Premier League. Callum would definitely come into that bracket. “He’s a striker in form, confident at the moment, producing some good performances for us – and that’s all he can do.”
