Vegan fury at ‘choose own turkey’ offer
A FARMER has angered vegans by offering Christmas shoppers the chance to choose, name and feed their turkey before it’s slaughtered.
Matt Carter, 35, said: “You won’t need to get involved in the difficult bits at the end.’’
But the post sparked a furious response from vegans, with one branding him “psychopathic”.
Matt said: “My butcher got a call from someone saying, ‘How would you like it if I cut you up and put you on the counter?’
“That’s verging on a death threat.”
Matt, of Greendale Farm, near Exeter, said his offer was “tongue in cheek” and he will not take it down.
He added: “They’ve done us a favour, sales have gone through the roof.”
