Brit hubby’s boat kill plea ‘not enough’
THE family of a woman killed honeymooning on a yacht have blasted a court for letting her Brit husband dodge a murder charge.
Lewis Bennett, 41, admitted manslaughter in a Miami court on Monday after he was previously accused of murdering his wife Isabella Hellman.
Her mother Amparo Alvarez said: ‘‘None of us agrees with the decision in court today.”
The family from Florida called his likely eight-year jail term “not enough”.
The couple’s yacht sank as they sailed from Cuba to Florida in 2017, and Isabella’s body was never found.
Prosecutors said Bennett, originally from Poole, Dorset, put Isabella in danger and failed to act sufficiently to save her.
