WHO WAS SCOTS KING ROBERT THE BRUCE?
Crowned King of the Scots in 1306, he had to fight for his claim to the throne. He was then exiled by King Edward I and took refuge in a cave.
Bruce saw a spider trying to spin a web and was inspired to never give up. He beat the English at the Battle of Bannockburn, in 1314.
Bruce died, aged 54, in 1329.
