Crushed by falling fire engine
KILLED Mitchell A PEDESTRIAN was crushed when a fire engine on a 999 call toppled over as it went too fast on a roundabout, a court heard.
Jurors were told David Williams was doing up to 39mph against a top 21.6mph for safe negotiation. Mitchell Bailey, 58, was killed in Royston, Herts, in January. Prosecutor Peter Shaw said: “Emergency workers… are subject to the same obligations as you and I behind the wheel.”
Williams, 48, of Royston, denies death by dangerous driving and death by careless driving. The case at St Albans crown court continues.
