‘Perv’s footie links for hush’

A CHILDREN’S home worker accused of sexually assaulting boys in his care used links with Manchester United to keep victims quiet, a court heard.

Bruce McLean, 62, was friends with players and took alleged victims on trips to the club’s training ground in the 70s and 80s.

Prosecutor Anne Whyte QC told Chester crown court one victim felt the treats were “designed to buy a form of silence”.

McLean, of Moore, Cheshire, denies 33 offences. Trial continues.
