‘Single-use’ a winning word

-

SINGLE-USE has been named word of the year, with gammon and gaslight also picked out.

Single-use means products, often plastic, made to be used just once before being thrown away.

Collins Dictionary, which produces the annual survey, said use of the term is up fourfold since 2013.

To gaslight is to manipulate others into doubting their sanity and gammon is an insulting term referring to middle-aged, white, Brexit supporters.
