Get rid of the royals

■ I can’t fully agree with Diane Silva’s comments about Harry and Meghan’s Australia tour (Your Voice, Nov 5).

The couple might have conducted themselves well, but I can’t help feeling the Royal Family is outdated.

These people are treated as superior beings because they were born or married into one particular family.

In Friday’s Mirror you reported that Meghan’s outfits for the trip cost £60,000, while another story said many staff in the hospitality industry are paid less than the minimum wage.

Some people justify the existence of the monarchy because it brings tourists to the UK. But France and Italy etc seem to manage without. Ian Marshall Colchester, Essex

Thankfully, the fireworks are over, but this year we didn’t have Bonfire Night, we had a weekend which resembled a war zone.

Why do fireworks have to be so loud and how many domestic animals and wildlife have suffered stress and died because of them?

Then there’s air pollution as the fireworks leave metal particles and harmful chemicals and smoke in the air for days afterwards. I’m glad it’s over at last. Mick Rutland, Stocktonon-Tees, Teesside

Great news for Labour that David Cameron wants to return to frontline politics! Bring it on, I say. Eddie Peart, Rotherham
