ALLEGRI: WE ARE RON FOR FIRST GOAL

- FROM DAVID McDONNELL in Turin

CRISTIANO RONALDO has been backed to score his first Champions League goal for Juventus tonight – against his former club Manchester United.

Ronaldo (right) has played two Champions League group games for Juventus since his

£99million summer switch from Real Madrid, but has yet to find the net.

But Juve boss

Max Allegri (top) is convinced it is only a matter of time before

Ronaldo – who has already scored seven goals in 10 games for the Serie A champions this season – finds the net for them in Europe.

“I’m sure that Cristiano will play,” said Allegri. “He has more or less only played one game so far and he managed to get an assist. I hope that he will score tomorrow.”

Allegri, who is deciding whether to play France midfielder Blaise Matuidi (above), added: “I’m not sure whether to rest Matuidi tomorrow or not. He is a player who plays with heart even when he isn’t in the best condition.”
