BARISIC: I’LL RESPOND TO STEVIE G CALL

BORNA BARISIC is desperate to be involved in Moscow tomorrow night after a month out injured.

The Rangers left-back ruptured a muscle at the start of October and has not featured since. But he is hoping to repay the faith shown in him by manager Steven Gerrard after revealing the Liverpool legend’s role in bringing him to Scotland.

Gerrard was impressed by his performances against Rangers when he captained Croatian side Osijek in both legs of a Europa League qualifier in July. Barisic said: “After our European matches, I got a call from an unknown number. “I answered it and he said, ‘Hello, this is Steven Gerrard, would you be interested in signing for Rangers?’. I told him it was an unbelievable honour to even talk to such a legend – never mind play for him!”
