Migrants call 999 in dinghy

SAFE A Coastguard copter SEVEN suspected illegal immigrants were rescued from a dinghy in the Channel after calling 999 for help in rough waters.

HM Coastguard and an RNLI lifeboat intercepte­d them two miles off Dover, Kent, yesterday.

Border Force said the men, aged between 19 and 54, claimed to be Iranian.

The Home Office said: “They are now being interviewe­d by immigratio­n officials. The alarm was raised by those on board the vessel.”
