Crusade just awned on me

-

MARTIN Lewis was inspired to be a consumer champion after learning hard-sell tricks while flogging caravan awnings.

The money expert, 45, got a university gap year job and learned the art of getting people to agree to add-ons they did not need.

Lewis said of the role at defunct Harrington’s Caravans in Oakmere, Cheshire: “My job now is you warn people about, ‘And you’ll need’, and to be wary of it.

“But that all came from Harrington’s Caravans.”
