Hitchcock’s wine whine

TIPPLE Director Alfred A WINE merchant has found a letter from Alfred Hitchcock moaning about being unable to import bottles to the US.

The Psycho director had contacted Ronald Avery, and the 1962 note was unearthed by his granddaughter Mimi, of wine seller Averys in Bristol.

It reads: “It’s been impossible to import wines privately into California.”

Mimi, 49, who intends to frame the letter, said she wasn’t sure if film great Hitchcock, who died in 1980, had ever visited the 225-year-old firm.
