Rise in number of sex addicts
SEX addiction is more common than thought, a study has found.
Researchers found a 10th of men and a 12th of women are hooked on romping, which is higher than previous figures.
This could be down to changing sexual morals, sexual liberation, the rise of internet porn and apps such as Tinder which cater for commitment free hook-ups. Study chief Dr Janna Dickenson, of the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, said addiction can cause “marked distress or social impairment”.
She added: “Health care professionals should be alert to the high number of people who are distressed about their sexual behaviour, assess the problem, and find appropriate treatments.”
