Ric’s power switch costs grid failure

AUSTRALIAN Daniel Ricciardo has been hit with a five-place grid penalty for tomorrow’s Brazilian Grand Prix.

His Red Bull needed the turbocharger on the power unit changed, triggering the automatic drop.

Ricciardo, who suffered his eighth retirement of the season in Mexico, said afterwards that he did not see the point in competing in the last two races, but changed his mind.

“At the time I felt like I meant it, but deep down I didn’t,” he said.
