BACK-TO-BACK THE FUTURE FOR HAMMERS

- BY JON WEST

MANUEL PELLEGRINI has told his West Ham players a winning run can transform their season.

The Hammers are over their nightmare start to the Chilean’s reign, which saw them lose the opening four fixtures.

They have not won successive league games since January 2017, but go to Huddersfield today having beaten Burnley 4-2 at the London Stadium and then take on Newcastle, Cardiff, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Watford before Christmas.

“We had a lot of different reasons why we didn’t have back-to-back wins but now is the moment to do it, to try to recover from that bad start” said Pellegrini.

“We now have this part of the season to put that right. It’s a matter of trust.

“If you want to have a successful season you have to have a winning mentality and an ambitious target. I try to tell the players (Felipe Anderson and Marko Arnautovic training, above) this every day.”
