Morrison’s grey to be talk of Town Moor in November finale

- BY NEWSBOY

BUZZ can give the bookies the shakes in the November Handicap (3.15, ITV4) as the 2018 Flat season comes to an end at Doncaster today.

Hughie Morrison (right) missed out in Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup when Marmelo was collared by Godolphin’s Cross Counter, but the Berkshire trainer has a prime candidate for the final big race of the domestic turf campaign.

After all-weather victories at Kempton in May and July – the latter over this afternoon’s mile-and-a-half distance – Liam Keniry’s mount didn’t get home over an extra two furlongs at Nottingham two starts go. But Buzz was back in the winner’s enclosure when getting up in the final stride over a mile and a quarter at Newbury seven weeks ago.

The son of 2005 Derby hero Motivator edged out Mountain Angel and the return to 12 furlongs is in his favour. With six starts on turf under his belt – and nine in all – Buzz has the profile to overcome a 5lb rise in the weights and take the £43,000 first prize.
