WISDOM

- REDICEAN,

TJohn Shaw’s Day. Harry Fry’s six-year-old is a talented sort, winning well at Kempton with the second Diese Des Bieffes going on to win at Cheltenham in April.

But given that was his first race in 10 months and with conditions testing, I’m more than happy to take a watching brief. GAMBLING

Money should come for Henderson’s other runner We Have A Dream. I expect him to go off favourite. The one who will be carrying my money is who should benefit from an outing at Cheltenham only two weeks ago.

Alan King was happy with the fouryear-old’s performance. He finished second (giving a stone and a pound to the winner) on good ground. Redicean will strip fitter for that run and should be right in the mix. He’s also won on soft going at Kempton on a couple of occasions earlier this year, should conditions get heavy this afternoon.

HE feature race at Wincanton is the Elite Hurdle, a Grade 2 race of just under two miles.

A field of seven are in the race but with rain yesterday and more forecast today, the line-up could yet be trimmed down.

If the rain materialises, and there’s every reason to believe it will (except the fact it’s been forecast), then I see that as a negative for Verdana Blue and If The Cap Fits.

The BBC weather forecast has a symbol of a cloud partially covering the sun with rain drops. That’s what you call hedging your bets.

Being a weather forecaster is the only job in the world with zero accountability. I really must apply there again.

Nicky Henderson’s Verdana Blue loves fast ground and shouldn’t be suited by any downpours.

The same goes for If The Cap Fits, who hasn’t been out since Boxing
