for all the feedback about last week’s column, which strayed into human sensitivities way beyond the emotions of football.

I know Glenn Hoddle has been moved by his torrent of goodwill messages since his heart attack. And I was grateful for kind words about the way a frightening experience changed the way I look at the world.

And as Leicester fans attend the King Power for the first home game since the helicopter tragedy which took owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s life, my thoughts are with everyone at my old club.
