Mirror beacon shines out for our snappers
AS darkness fell on a day of remembrance, 1,300 Beacons of Light were lit across the land in tribute to local people who fought and died.
The first shone at Westminster Abbey, fired by a flame from the Lamplight of Peace.
At the Daily Mirror’s East London offices we lit a beacon in memory of our war photographers, staff members and readers who gave all.
Editor Alison Phillips said: “They served their country in its darkest hour, shining a light on the dark truth of war. A beacon seemed the perfect way to mark their contribution.”
