Child survivor to be a nurse

RETURN Nurse Katy Payne A WOMAN who had leukaemia as a child and vowed on her sickbed to help others is to graduate as a paediatric nurse.

Katy Payne, 20, was diagnosed aged two and fought the disease for two years.

She has worked at the hospital where she was treated and with nurses who cared for her.

Katy, from Colchester, Essex, said: “I had come so close to death, when they first saw me again they couldn’t believe it was me.”
