JURGEN KLOPP has revealed Liverpool are in talks with England boss Gareth Southgate over Joe Gomez’s inclusion for this week’s friendly clash with the United States.

Reds defender Gomez (right) has been nursing an Achilles injury but played 90 minutes yesterday in the 2-0 win over Fulham.

Southgate will make a decision on Gomez’s place in the England squad for their friendly with USA on Thursday and Sunday’s Nations League clash with Croatia after talks with the Reds. Klopp said: “Joe has played all the games and we are in talks about that.”

The Kop boss has no issues with skipper Jordan Henderson linking up with England even though he has only just returned from a hamstring injury.

Klopp said of the Kop REF: skipper, a second-half substitute against Fulham: “Hendo is 100 per cent fit and needs games. That’s cool.”

Naby Keita, a late sub at Anfield yesterday, was making his first appearance since picking up a thigh injury while playing for Guinea during the last international break. And Klopp said he is happy for the midfielder to play for his country against Ivory Coast on Sunday.

He added: “If you ask me, I always want them to stay here. But in this case it’s good for him.

“Guinea play just one game, against Ivory Coast, and that’s good for him.

“He is fit and has been in training for five days. Now he’ll have another four or five days training and play a game. It’s brilliant for him. I’m happy.”
