CHERRIES JOY OVER WILSON’S
ASMIR BEGOVIC has backed Callum Wilson to impress with England.
Striker Wilson (above) joins Gareth Southgate’s squad this week with his Bournemouth team-mates delighted he has been rewarded for their excellent start to the season.
Begovic said: “We’re so happy for him. He’s a great guy and a great player and someone who has overcome a lot of setbacks.
“He’s had a great 18 months since he came back from his latest injury and I really hope he does well for England and gets a cap because he can be a real asset to the team.
“I’m sure they can use him in both the games. He’s an all-round forward with pace, good technical ability and a good finisher. He can mix it up on the physical side, too. An all-round really good player.”
Begovic admits the international break, when England play the USA and Croatia, has given the Cherries a chance to regroup. Five wins in seven league games catapulted them up the table, but they have lost their last two and face Arsenal next.
He said: “We have to take it on the chin and we have to bounce back.”
