CALLUM ROBINSON admits that every goal he scores against Bristol City is payback time.

The Preston striker (above) signed for the Robins in the summer of 2015, just after they had won promotion to the Championsh­ip, on a seasonlong loan from Aston Villa.

But he spent most of the time on the bench or out of the squad altogether, making just two starts in a season that saw manager Steve Cotterill lose his job. Since then the Republic of Ireland internatio­nal has made a habit of netting against the Robins and did so again, marking his 150th North End appearance by slotting home a 35th-minute winner from Daniel Johnson’s cross.

“City should have given me more opportunit­ies,” he said. “I believed in my ability even back then and had always been made to feel wanted at Villa.

“Here I learned what it was like not to feel wanted and spend a lot of time in the stands. It made me stronger because I never wanted it to happen again.
